How to play Conjugle
- One verb a day, five everyday sentences. Type the form of the verb that fills the gap, and Capi takes a penalty.
- The English is always under the sentence, so you know which tense it needs: the present, “is …ing”, “going to”, the past or “used to”.
- Right first time: goal ⚽. Wrong, and you get a hint, the tense and the first letters; right then, it goes in off the post 🍀. Wrong twice, and the onça saves it 🧤.
- Accents don't fail you: pos for pôs counts, and the game shows you how it's written. Spoken forms count too: tô fazendo, tá falando.
- Every goal adds to Capi's career, from the várzea to the World Cup final. A new verb every day at midnight, New York time.
Questions
- Which tenses does Conjugle use?
- The five you use every day: the present (falo), the present continuous (estou falando), the future with ir (vou falar), the pretérito perfeito (falei) and the pretérito imperfeito (falava). The English sentence tells you which one each gap needs.
- Do accents count?
- A form without its accents, or with the wrong ones, still scores: pos for pôs is a goal. The game then shows you how it's written (“Atenção ao acento: pôs”), so you learn the spelling without losing the kick.
- Is it Brazilian or European Portuguese?
- Brazilian. The sentences use você, a gente and vocês the way Brazilians do, and spoken forms such as tô and tá count as right.
- Where can I see the full table of a verb?
- Every tense of every verb is in the Verbeto conjugator, at /conjugate. The end of each game links to that day's verb, and to a practice drill for it. Open the conjugator.
