The six pages

For teachers and parents

The pages are free to print for home and classroom use, as many copies as you need. A few ways to use them:

  • Say each word out loud while coloring it, with its article: a capivara, o jacaré.
  • Afterwards, label things around the house or classroom with the words from the pages: o bolo, o presente, o mar.
  • Pick a page a week and ask for its three words at the end of the week.

To hear how the words sound, the pronunciation guide says any word you type. For older learners, the animals Anki deck has the capybara, the toucan and the macaw as flashcards, with audio.

For December, there are Christmas coloring pages, gift tags and an advent calendar, with Feliz Natal and the other Christmas words.

Yes. Print as many as you like, at home or for a class. All six are in one PDF, and each page has its own if you only want one.

What size are the pages?

US Letter (8.5 × 11 in). They print fine on A4 too: choose "fit to page" (or "scale to fit") in the print window.

What does capivara mean?

Capivara is Portuguese for capybara, the world's largest rodent, which lives in rivers and wetlands across South America. The word comes from Tupi, an Indigenous language of Brazil, and means "grass eater". English took its word from the same source.
